3. Superprof: polished profiles, but you pay to message

Superprof has attractive tutor profiles and is especially strong for music, languages, art and fitness. Tutors list for free and many offer a free first lesson. Parents and students generally need a paid Student Pass to message tutors, so check the current price and renewal terms before you subscribe.

For CBSE or ICSE school tuition, Superprof is less focused on Indian boards and classes than a local platform. For a guitar teacher or an IELTS coach, it's a solid choice.

4. Justdial: good for coaching centres, not for individual tutors

Justdial is a business directory. Search for “home tutors near me” and you'll mostly see tuition bureaus and coaching centres, with paid listings near the top. Sending an enquiry usually shares your number with several of them, so the call pattern can feel a lot like Sulekha.

Where Justdial helps is when you actually want a centre with a physical address, a batch timetable and ratings from other families nearby. For a one-on-one tutor chosen by you, look elsewhere.

5. Local tuition agencies: convenient, but someone takes a cut

Many of the callers after a Sulekha enquiry are agencies. They'll find a tutor and often send a replacement if it doesn't work out.
