CBSE Tutor in Pune: Class 9–12 Maths, Science, and English

Find a CBSE tutor in Pune for board years — Kothrud, Baner, and Viman Nagar, plus what a useful trial class looks like.

Mentr Editorial Team7 min read

CBSE tutoring in Pune is a board-year market. The posts that get replies are Class 9–10 maths and science, and Class 12 maths, from Kothrud, Baner, Aundh, and Viman Nagar. A post that says 'all subjects, any board, Pune' sits unanswered. This guide is the narrower search: CBSE only, with fees and a trial that tells you something.

Pune areas with CBSE tutors

Kothrud and Karve Nagar have the deepest CBSE bench, including tutors who have taught the same school cohort for several years. Baner, Balewadi, and Aundh are the next pocket — newer apartments, evening-only slots, and tutors who will not cross to Hadapsar on a weekday. Viman Nagar and Kalyani Nagar form a third pocket. Magarpatta and Hadapsar should be posted on their own; a Baner tutor treating that as 'nearby' will cancel after the first week.

  • Kothrud and Karve Nagar — Class 9–10 CBSE maths and science, home visits still normal
  • Baner, Balewadi, Aundh — Class 8–12, evenings after 6 pm
  • Viman Nagar and Kalyani Nagar — mix of home visits and online
  • Wakad and Hinjewadi — treat as PCMC, not central Pune
  • Camp and Deccan — fewer home tutors; students often travel to the tutor

CBSE tutor fees in Pune

Pune is cheaper than Mumbai for the same CBSE class. Class 6–8 is about ₹400–₹700 an hour. Class 9–10 maths or science is ₹600–₹1,000. Class 11–12 maths is ₹800–₹1,400. English and social science sit at the bottom of each band. A tutor teaching two siblings in the same hour often discounts the second by about a third — ask, it is not automatic.

6–8₹500–₹800₹400–₹700

11–12₹900–₹1,400₹600–₹900

A trial class that is worth paying for

  1. Pick a chapter from the last school test, not the first chapter of the book.
  2. Ask the tutor to teach for 40 minutes and then give the student two problems alone.
  3. Watch whether they check the school notebook. CBSE tutors who ignore the school's method create a second syllabus.
  4. Confirm the weekly count. Two classes a week is the minimum that moves a Class 10 maths grade.
  5. Agree the fee for the trial before it starts. A 'free demo' that becomes a sales call wastes the evening.

Post the class, the subject, Kothrud or Baner or whichever pocket you are in, and the budget. Tutors pitch. You are not charged to post or to talk to them.

Common questions

How much does a CBSE maths tutor cost in Pune?
Class 9–10 maths is about ₹700–₹1,100 per hour one-on-one in 2026. Class 12 maths is ₹900–₹1,400. Kothrud and Baner are both inside that range.
Which Pune area has the most CBSE tutors?
Kothrud and Karve Nagar, then Baner–Aundh. Post the locality. A city-wide 'Pune' post gets fewer serious replies.
Is a home tutor better than a CBSE tuition class in Pune?
For one weak subject in Class 9 or 10, a home or online tutor is the better spend. A batch helps when the student needs a weekly test and already follows NCERT in school.
